Installations
The proper installation of your new windows is critical. The purchase of new windows is a substantial investment and improperly installed windows can be a total waste of that investment. There are many ways to install replacement windows and every installer has his / her own way of doing things. The important thing to know is that if proper insulation is not utilized and properly placed, the windows will not properly seal and therefore your home will have substantial heat loss through where the windows meet the frame of your home.
No matter how much money you spend on windows, if the installation is not correct, your investment will not give you the return or result you are hoping for. We meet many homeowners who have recently replaced their windows and are unhappy as they can still feel a cold breeze when standing near the windows. The new windows are usually just fine but the installation was incorrect, unfortunately these homeowners are usually happy to have all the windows replaced because they do not understand that the windows are not at fault, but the installation was not completed correctly.
When you purchase your new windows it is important to know that the installation can be 25% to 30% of the overall cost. Ask your window installer to provide references and be sure to check them out. Ask for factory certifications or training tickets. Remember not all good installers will have factory certifications but be sure that if they have been in the business for some time they will have some good references. Installers should be well organized and have an abundance of tools. They should be equipped with ladders and usually some kind of scaffolding for those hard to reach windows.
Most of all, the installers should be clean and well groomed. At Windows West we expect our installers to be uniformly dressed. When an install is complete always be sure to sign off a customer satisfaction form. If you are not happy with the finished look, or the clean up job, inform the installer that you will not sign off until the job is complete. Remember, your home should as clean or cleaner than when the installers arrived.
Remember that the installation is as important as the quality of the windows themselves. With Windows West you can expect to be connected with the very best installation services in the industry.
